“Singers of the Jewish soul” – is a unique project that engages a family trio – Yakov Kazyansky, a well- known musician from Yaroslavl, Russia, and his twin-daughters Anna Korzhenevich (Chicago) and Kate Elbert (Columbus, Ohio).
This lecture-concert is dedicated to the Yiddish poets/songwriters who lived in the first half of the twentieth century. These were incredible people who created wonderful pieces of
music under the most horrible circumstances possible. The names include Mordechai Gebirtig, Avrom Goldfaden, Itzik Manger, and others.
Currently, Anna, Kate, and Yakov live in different parts of the world,
and thanks to the Genesis Philanthropy Group and Russian Jewish Division of JUF, they were able to join each other on stage again and perform their beloved Yiddish songs for the Chicago audience.
